Frankfort - The Mafube municipality that includes the towns of Frankfort, Villiers and Tweeling has been put under administration by the Free State department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
This follows after this municipality’s financial woes lead to officials not being paid their salaries several times since last year. The provincial department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs then had to intervene and bailed them out.
Head of the department, Mokete Duma, says drastic measures had to be taken to address the problems at this municipality.
