Couple in court for Hennenman murder─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:41 Wed, 08 Feb 2017

Hennenman - A couple arrested in connection with the murder of a 54-year-old retired mine employee from Hennenman is expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court today.
Free State police spokesperson, Mamello Mokhuoane, says the results of the post mortem conducted on Wilfred Edward Ernsting are not available yet, and thus the cause of death remains unknown.
Ernsting’s body was found on Sunday in his bedroom by a concerned neighbour after he became suspicious when a man and a woman were seen leaving his property with his Opel Astra. The neighbour saw a body through a window of the house. Mokhuoane says Ernsting’s hands and feet were tied. There was a sheet over his body and blood all over the room.
Police were quick to investigate and followed up information after the alleged stolen car was spotted in Phomolong. Dogs from the Welkom K9 Unit were used to track down the suspects and led police officials to a nearby graveyard not far from where the abandoned car was recovered. The couple was arrested at a grave. Two identity documents belonging to Ernsting were found buried at the scene. Ersnting’s car keys were recovered in bushes in the graveyard.
