Kimberley drowning being investigated─── 12:27 Sun, 13 Nov 2016
Kimberley - The police in Kimberley are investigating an inquest case following the alleged drowning of a man at a resort in Kimberley.
It is alleged that on Saturday at about 16:30 the deceased, who is approximately 35-years-old, was with his colleagues celebrating a year end function at the resort when he decided to take a swim.
According to the information received, one of the colleagues got worried when he did not see him in the water anymore and he decided go in to check on him. He was allegedly found drowned in the pool.
As the festive season approaches and the temperatures are also getting high, many people will be visiting resorts and trying other means to cool down.
The police in the Northern Cape urge the community to take proper precautions to avoid drowning such as not taking a swim when they are drunk, avoid letting children swim unsupervised and making sure that the swimming pools have safety nets when children are around.
We further urge people not to take risks when getting into the water if they do not know how to swim.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are not known and the police investigation continues.
