Mangaung Ward Councillors Gala dinner cancelled─── 17:43 Tue, 18 Oct 2016
Bloemfontien - The Mangaung ward councillor’s gala dinner which was scheduled to take place tonight has been cancelled.
The municipality says the cancellation has nothing to do with the DA's allegations that the municipality was going to spend more than R300 000 on the event.
Opposition parties yesterday said they would boycott the event as they felt it was wasteful expenditure. This would have been the second event hosted by the municipality, boycotted by the opposition as they saw it as a waste of money.
Mangaung City Manager, Tankiso Mea said: “The cancellation of the gala dinner had nothing to do with the DA, in fact when that decision was made I was not even aware of the issues from DA. It was an internal decision taken based on other considerations.”
