Bloemfontein - Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality executive mayor, Olly Mlamleli, says all stakeholders in the Integrated Public Transport Plan (IPTN) need to work together to ensure the smooth transition between phase one and two.

She said if phase one is well executed, it will boost confidence in the project and attract investors. Mlamleli was speaking at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between leaders of the taxi associations in Bloemfontein, Botshablelo and Thaba Nchu.

She added the signing of the memorandum displayed commitment to developing the transport sector in Bloemfontein. The plan consists of a new transport system which includes the construction of bus ways, stations, busses that cater for people with disabilities and depots for the busses.

Mlamleli added that, given the challenges faced, the signing of this memorandum was a “dream come true”.

“This is our marriage, committing both Manguang and the taxi industry because this is all about transport. Together, we must ensure that this infrastructure is going to assist and contribute towards the economy of this area,” she added.
