Thabo Mofutsanyana Mayor retains position─── REFILWE GAESWE 11:14 Sat, 20 Aug 2016
Qwaqwa - The Mayor of Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality, Malefu Vilakazi, retained her position at the first inaugural council sitting on Friday in Qwaqwa, following the 2016 Municipal Elections.
The municipal speaker, Mbothoma Maduna, was also re-elected. According to municipal spokesperson, Matefu Mokoena, both Vilakazi and Maduna were elected unopposed.
“The two Councillors pledged to work hard and as a collective towards ensuring that the district municipality maintains its good record of clean governance. The municipality attained a clean audit in the financial year 2014/15. It is the first municipality in the Free State to attain such a record. The selection of Vilakazi and Maduna took place after all District Municipality Councillors were sworn in by Acting Chief Magistrate, Jennifer Moalusi. Six parties are represented in the district municipality, namely the ANC, Dikwankwetla Party of South Africa, Economic Freedom Fighters, African Independent Congress, Democratic Alliance and Congress of the People.”
All political parties congratulated Vilakazi and Maduna and further made a commitment of supporting them.
