Bloemfontein - Investigations levelled against a private company that previously lost control over its contract to run a Bloemfontein prison have been completed. G4S lost their control over the Mangaung Correctional Centre over a number of security breaches last year.
The company regained control over the facility last Friday. All 326 G4S employees who were dismissed in September for their participation in an illegal strike have been reinstated.
Zacharia Modise, who headed the prison for the last ten months, says the government is confident that G4S is in a position to run the facility properly and in accordance to the law. He would, however, not elaborate on the investigations and their findings.
He added that a joint statement between the Department of Correctional Services, G4S and Popcru will be released in due time.
