Bloemfontein - The case against a Bloemfontein doctor accused of raping one of his patients was postponed in the city's Magistrate’s court this morning.
The accused, who cannot be named until he has pleaded, was initially charged with two counts of rape but one of the charges was withdrawn at his last appearance in May.
The State said this was because it saw no prospect of a successful prosecution on that charge. He is now facing one charge in connection with an alleged incident in May last year, when a patient accused him of raping her in his consulting room.
The former Kovsie student was previously fined abroad after he admitted to having a sexual relationship with an underage patient.
A date for when his trial will commence in the High Court will be announced on July 15.
