Kimberley - A social worker came under fire for the wording of certain parts of her report during testimony in the Griekwastad murder case.
Karin van Wyk is testifying in the Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley during day two of sentencing proceedings of the 17-year-old minor found guilty of murdering Deon, Christel and Marthella Steenkamp on their farm Naauwhoek in April 2012.
He was also convicted of one count of rape and defeating the ends of justice. Van Wyk reported that the child admitted to having more than one girlfriend but told her had never had sexual relations with any of them.
Both State advocate Hannes Cloete and Judge Frans Kgomo requested clarity on how the statement came about, asking whether the accused had volunteered the information.
Maritha van Kraayenburg from prisoner rights organisation Nicro was called to the stand next.
