Bloemfontein - Sentencing proceedings in the case against a former accountant at Motheo FET College, Jacques Wilhelm Grobler, have again been postponed in the Bloemfontein Regional Court.
Grobler was due to be sentenced on Friday, but proceedings were postponed to October 4 for undisclosed reasons.
Grobler was earlier this year found guilty of stealing R1.3 million from the college between April 2009 and March 2011. He was charged with 60 counts of fraud, theft and money laundering.
During mitigation proceedings the defence argued that the money Grobler stole was not the only reason for Motheo College’s financial woes.
It said the R1.3 million was only a fraction of the unexplained shortfall of R23 million, which was confirmed by Motheo’s principal.
