Calls to arm paramedics following attacks─── 09:38 Mon, 31 Dec 2018

KZN's Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo says he can't rule out the possibility that emergency personnel may start carrying guns to protect themselves.
A paramedic is recovering in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in Illovo in KwaZulu-Natal.
Philani Nzuza was entering the Emergency Medical Services base when three suspects attacked him.
He was stabbed in the head and chest.
Dhlomo has condemned the incident, describing it as barbaric.
He has urged the police to make sure that those who are responsible face the music.
Earlier this month, the South African Emergency Personnel Union called on its members to arm themselves.
But the move has been widely criticised.
