MTN OFM Classic cyclist undergoes succesful bypass operation─── 15:37 Tue, 08 Nov 2011

Bloemfontein - The fifty-five year old cyclists who suffered a major heart attack on Sunday during the MTN OFM Classic Road race, underwent a four-valve heart bypass this morning. Eddie Wallace suffered the attack barely three kilometers after the starting point. Paramedics treated Wallace on the scene and he was then taken to Mediclinic Bloemfontein. Hospital spokesperson, Amanda Appelgryn, says the operation went well and that Wallace is in a critical but stable condition. Meanwhile Appelgryn says Ladybrand farmer, Louis Schutte, who was shot at close range on Alpha Estate last week, has been transferred to a general ward. His condition is much improved.
