International golf returns to South Africa─── MORGAN PIEK 15:47 Mon, 16 Nov 2020
With the 2020 Masters at Augusta in Georgia a thing of the past, international golf will be making a return to South Africa this week.
The 2020 Joburg Open tees off this week at the Randpark Golf Club and the tournament in Johannesburg is a co-sanctioned event on the European and Sunshine Tours.
The tournament which was first played in 2007 was not played in 2018 and 2019 as it formed part of the South Africa Open.
It will mark the first international golf in South Africa since Dimension Data Pro-am was played at Fancourt in February.
The Joburg Open tees off on Thursday morning.
Next week the tour heads to Mpumalanga for the Alfred Dunhill Championship at the iconic Leopards Creek Golf Club in Malelane.
The European Tour then heads to the Middle East for a brief stop in Dubai for the Golf in Dubai Championship, before heading back to Mzansi.
The season in South Africa will be capped off at the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City for the 2020 South African Open.
After the Open Championship or British Open, the SA Open is the second oldest open in the world.
