The Proteas will target an improved batting performance when they face Australia in a must-win game in Gqeberha on Saturday in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

The hosts will go hunting for back-to-back wins, while the defending champions will want to continue their momentum heading to the semi-finals.

On Thursday Australia recorded their third with a 10-wicket mauling of Sri Lanka to secure then place in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The Proteas top-order batting has been a concern and the opening batter Tazmin Brits is confident that it will come right.

“We know that our batting is up to standard, as we with the tri-series against the West Indies and India where we did well there,” said the hard-hitting Brits.

“We want to so that out and we are hoping that it comes a long soon. But the bowlers luckily helped us out against New Zealand.

“It's basically out top-four that needs to come to the party and especially in the power-play, but I'm sure that once that gets connected, we'll get going.”

While this is certainly a big game for the Proteas against the toughest opponent one can ask for, Brits, also highlighted that it’s important to just focus on the game and not to worry about who you will be playing against.

“If you look at the warm-up games against Ireland, we know that they retired a few of their batters, but at the end of the day a win is a win, and I think they are beatable.

“We are not going to look at the name Australia, were just going to play the game. It's a see-ball, hit-ball approach and just give our best.

“Cricket and especially T20 is a very funny game and anything can happen, but it's definitely a must-win game.”

Saturday night’s game at St George’s Park gets underway at 19:00.
