Cash-in-transit heist suspects on the run in North West─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:24 Sun, 01 Dec 2024

North West police have intensified a manhunt for suspects involved in a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist which left one security guard injured.
The incident occurred on the R510 road near Sandfontein village outside Mogwase on Saturday morning (30/11).
It's alleged a silver Mercedes-Benz rammed into a security CIT van forcing it to stop. The assailants, wearing balaclavas, fired shots at an escort bakkie accompanying the cash van, bringing it to a halt.
The suspects then forced the three guards out of their vehicles at gunpoint, seizing three rifles and four handguns. They then used explosives to blow open the cash van and stole an undisclosed amount of money before torching both the cash van and their Mercedes-Benz getaway car.
North West police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspects fled the scene in a convoy of vehicles, including, a white Volkswagen Polo, white Toyota Fortuner, white Toyota Hilux double cab, and blue Ford Ranger double cab.
The injured security guard from the escort vehicle was transported to a hospital. Police have not disclosed the nature of his injuries, and no arrests have been made.
Mokgwabone urged anyone with information to contact the police assuring them all leads will be followed up to bring the perpetrators to justice.
