“Vehicles parked on pavements, in illegal spaces, or obstructing emergency gates will be towed away.”

Mangaung Metro has announced several road closures around Toyota Stadium in anticipation of the highly awaited rugby match between the Springboks and Portugal this afternoon.

The match is expected to draw a large crowd, necessitating careful traffic management and road safety measures. Municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, detailed the specific road closures that will be in effect until the end of the match:

Kingsway to Parffit Avenue

Att Horak Avenue from Parffit Avenue to First Avenue

Betoger Street from Park Road to Horak Avenue

‘Motorists can utilise the Loch Logan Waterfront parking lot’

He said the entry to these hard-closure areas will be strictly limited to VIP and VVIP ticket holders. Motorists can utilise the Loch Logan Waterfront parking lot, which is accessible from the corner of Kingsway and First Avenue. Additionally, the parking area at the Tourism Centre will be reserved exclusively for Toyota vehicle drivers.

Khedama emphasised the importance of adhering to parking regulations. He said the vehicles parked on pavements, in illegal spaces, or obstructing emergency gates will be towed away. Mangaung Metro Municipal officials, in collaboration with the police, will be closely monitoring and regulating the flow of traffic to ensure a smooth and safe environment for all attendees.

Members of the public are urged to use alternative routes for the duration of the road closures. Khedama advised fans/supporters to arrive early at the stadium to avoid congestion and to facilitate a smooth entry process. Gates will open at 12:00, with the kick-off scheduled for 17:00.
