Northwest Premier Mokgosi elected unopposed─── 14:45 Fri, 14 Jun 2024
“If you are not talking about jobs for youth, you aren't talking to me or the province.”
The North West ANC deputy chairperson and MEC for Social Development, Lazarus Mokgosi, has been unopposed elected and sworn in as the new premier.
The proceedings were presided over by Judge Ronald Hendricks from the North West High Court.
Meanwhile, MEC for Agricultural and Rural Development, Desbo Mohono, was elected as the speaker of the provincial legislature, also unopposed.

The EFF North West secretary, Papiki Babuile, told OFM News they welcomed the election of both the speaker and the premier.
Babuile said the mission to hold government accountable will continue and calls for the 7th administration to uplift and improve the live of people.
On his remarks of being elected premier, Mokgosi declared that youth employment will be the focus of the province from now on.

“If you are not talking about jobs for youth, you aren't talking to me or the province, as the key priority is now to create more jobs for hundreds of unemployed young people in the province,” said Mokgosi.
OFM News learned with Mokgosi and Mohono's elected to new positions, there are changes expected to take place in terms of MEC's appointments.
