A group of boys who were gathering firewood at the Modderrivier in the Northern Cape found the body of a man hanging from a tree close to the railroad tracks.
The body of the deceased was discovered hanging from a tree, where it already started to decompose.
“No one had been reported missing in the area and the man could have committed suicide,” said community members.
The Modderrivier police have opened an inquest docket. “As of yet, the police do not have any information about his identity, but it is believed that he might be between the ages of 25 to 30 years old,” said police spokesperson Molefi Shemane.
A post-mortem will be performed to determine the cause of death and rule out any suspicion of foul play, Shemane added.
