President Ramaphosa hails Matlosana for rich history─── LUCKY NKUYANE 12:31 Thu, 27 Apr 2023
President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the Matlosana Municipality in North West for its rich history when he took to the podium to deliver his keynote address at the Freedom Day commemorations in Alabama outside Klerksdorp.
Ramaphosa was flanked by, among others, Deputy President Paul Mashatile, Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa and North West Premier Bushy Maape.
Addressing the thousands of residents who gathered at Manzil Park, I reminded them of the rich history of Matlosana, where the world-renowned late Archbishop Desmond Tutu hailed from.
Ramaphosa said the area has always been a place of resilience and struggle.
He bemoaned poverty, the rate of unemployment, a lack of services, and the challenges of sewage spillages across the country and promised that his government would address these issues.
He said he has given clear instructions to the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, to speedily deal with the water issues across the province.
