Dihlabeng residents call for empowerment opportunities─── MPHO MOHAPI 14:18 Mon, 10 Oct 2022
More opportunities are expected to be presented to the youth and entrepreneurs of the Dihlabeng Local Municipality in the Eastern Free State on Tuesday 11 October 2022.
The spokesperson of the Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (Destea), Mojalefa Mphapang, says the department will be launching a new programme to connect entrepreneurs with relevant departments that can assist them in ensuring the growth and support for their businesses. He adds that unemployed graduates will also be given training opportunities to identify how they can use their skills and qualifications to initiate job creation opportunities.
Mphapang says they will be addressing graduates in the Economic and Management Science, Science and Technology, as well as Engineering fields of study.
“The main objective of this intervention is not only to reboot enterprises but also to address the triple challenges of poverty, inequality, and unemployment. It is also to encourage business people and unemployed graduates to start viable businesses so that they can create jobs.”
Mphapang says the department is targeting entrepreneurs whose businesses are already operating, whether they are registered or not. He says all people who meet the criteria are advised to attend this event that will be taking place at Bohlokong, with all their documents ready for any application opportunities that will be available.
He says this programme will continue in other parts of the province to ensure that all people are afforded this opportunity, for their benefit and for that of the economy.
OFM News previously reported that the Department of Small Business Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (Destea) in the Free State has vowed to offer youth employment opportunities across the province. This is according to MEC Makalo Mohale, when he tabled his departmental budget for 2022/23 at the Free State Legislature's sitting in the Fourth Raadsaal on Friday (25 March 2022).
