The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State announces the appointment of five members of the service to new managerial positions.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major-General Solly Lesia, and the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Crime Detection, Major-General Apaphia Modise, as well as the Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence, Major-General Agnes Makhele, held two special meetings earlier this week to announce the appointment of five "hard-working, highly dedicated and loyal members of the service".

On Monday 3 October 2022, Lesia announced the promotions of Major-Generals Masebueng Meriam Mochologi and Liesbeth Matobako. They were previously Provincial Heads of Visible Policing and Finance and Administration Services, respectively.

Mochologi becomes the new District Commissioner of the Overberg in the Western Cape, while Matobako joins the SAPS Headquarters in Pretoria.

On Tuesday 4 October 2022, three more appointments were announced: Brigadier Christoffel Johannes van der Merwe is the Provincial Head of Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation; Brigadier Marriet Makhosazane Ntuli is the Provincial Head of Commercial Crimes Investigation; and Brigadier Khedamile Godfrey Ntlati is the Provincial Head of Police Emergency and Flash Response.

The latter is a merger of Provincial Emergency Services (PES) and Firearms, Liquor and Second-hand goods (Flash) to form the new provincial component which Ntlati will head.

These appointments are in line with the broader SAPS priority to fill critical vacancies and realign policing to the demands of the day.

Lesia congratulates the senior managers on their promotions and pledges the support of provincial management. "We are confident that our internal capacity will allow us to carry on with the work while we manage these changes," he says.
