The Free State MEC for Police, Roads and Transport – William Bulwane - has issued a stern warning to motorists travelling to their various destinations this Easter weekend.
Bulwane says traffic officials will be conducting roadblocks in the province ahead of the Easter festivities.
Hundreds of people who travelling to holiday destinations are expected to drive through routes passing through the province.
Bulwane held a media briefing to outline the department's plan and urged motorists to comply with traffic laws.

"It is every body's responsibility, it's not only yours as traffic officials but everybody's responsibility. I want to take this opportunity to call on motorists whose driver's licences expired to use this grace period to renew their licences," he adds
The province is expected to include the officials from the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) alongside the South African Police Services (SAPS).
Bulwane announced plans to reduce road accidents as per the Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula's plans and request.

Data collected by the RTMC on road fatalities indicate the group most affected by crashes are the pedestrians, passengers. They constitute 39.8% and 29.6% respectively, whilst drivers constitute 29.2% of fatalities.
According to the RTMC’s 2020 State of Road Safety Report, 85.6% of all crashes are related to human factors, indicating that road users do not comply with the rules of the road and are reckless, Bulwane adds.
