The city's acting Municipal Manager (MM), Sello More, has promised accountability and immediate action on issues raised by residents.

More was speaking to the OFM News team at the Bram Fischer Building following a meeting with the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF). He said that a strong civil society is able to keep the municipality on its toes, citing that this is what has been missing in the metro. According to More, the Mangaung Metro's commitment is to serve its people and to ensure that implementation of what was discussed in the meeting is attended to immediately.

"The engagements were good, there are commitments that we have made. Some of them are long-term, others short-term. We made commitments in relation to eradicating the bucket system and pit latrines in Mangaung. We are also going to engage other spheres of government to address water supply issues because that is one of our biggest issues in Mangaung. The most important thing we agreed upon is that we are not going to just talk shop," said More.

OFM News reported on disgruntled residents who came from as far as Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Botshabelo, and Soutpan on 24 August and marched to different government offices in Bloemfontein, to complain about fraud, high electricity tariffs, service delivery, lack of job opportunities and more. Meanwhile, More also stated that they will improve their system in the Metro and do away with the compromises that were destroying the Municipality.
