SABC presenter fears for her life─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:21 Fri, 06 Aug 2021

The SABC presenter, Dimakatso Folotsi-Ratselane, who was attacked and stabbed multiple times by her estranged husband in Bloemfontein, fears for her life.
This is according to the state during the bail application of her husband, McKenzie Ratselane, on Thursday.
During his bail application, the state witness and leading investigator, Paseka Mojaki, told the court that the victim, Folotsi-Ratselane, informed him that she fears for her life following a threatening phone call from her husband.
Mojaki said McKenzie allegedly called his wife from prison and asked her to pay for his legal fees, drop the case against him and further threatened to finish her off or get people to do it for him.
McKenzie has been in custody since his arrest on 16 February 2021 and faces five charges, including kidnapping, attempted murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Mojaki told the court that the confirmation by Folotsi-Ratselane came out during a conversation when he inquired from the victim as to why did she appear to disguise herself whilst in the public space. He said it is when she confirmed that she was fearful of her life following threats made by the suspect after he had made several calls to her whilst in prison.
McKenzie wants to be released on bail. In an affidavit given to the court, he states that his alleged "funeral parlour" is on the brink of collapse and according to him, two employees could lose their jobs. But the state witness says he was reliably informed by Folotsi-Ratselane that the business was a joint venture and has since been dysfunctional since 2019 due to a lack of resources, including cars and the building for the operation of the business.
He refuted allegations by the state that he evaded the law. He said he simply left for Gauteng to seek counsel from his elders to fix what he termed as marital issues with the victim.
The state says McKenzie has strong family ties in the neighbouring country of Lesotho and Botswana and if given bail he could again evade the law.
He was arrested on 16 February 2021 at an informal settlement in Ennerdale in Gauteng after he was on the run for six days.
He is accused of stabbing Folotsi-Raletsane multiple times with a knife measuring 13 centimetres, according to the Magistrate's calculations.
