Gauteng Community Safety MEC, Faith Mazibuko, together with the acting Social Development MEC, Panyaza Lesufi, visited Thabong Shopping Centre in Sebokeng on Wednesday and discovered that several well-known shops are selling expired food in the Vaal.
This discovery follows after Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, together with other MEC's visited various shopping centres in the province.
The visit is to assess compliance with level four lockdown regulations by shop owners and shoppers.
Lesufi told OFM News that he is unhappy after some shops failed to maintain food security standards, and adds that relevant authorities will take action against the management of these shops.
However, he is delighted that shoppers maintained social distancing and wore face masks.
