NW Legislature welcomes new member─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:08 Wed, 06 Feb 2019
Members of the North West Legislature have welcomed a new member in the House after a swearing-in ceremony that took place yesterday.
Mmoloki Cwaile was sworn in as a new member of the ANC after the position became vacant following the death of Ndleleni Duma, who recently passed away after a long illness. Executive manager in the office of the Speaker, Tebogo Chaane, told OFM News that the ceremony was a success and Cwaile has been welcomed by all members of the Provincial Legislature, as well as the Speaker, Susanna Dantjie. He says Cwaile took an oath and affirmed faithfulness to serve in his position as per the constitution of the country. Chaane adds that the welcoming of Cwaile into the Provincial Legislature now brings the number of vacancies to zero.
The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in the province is, however, not impressed with this appointment. The organisation’s Packet Seaketso, told OFM News that the swearing-in of Cwaile was not discussed with all alliances and that it even took place without the ANC’s PTT convenor Job Mokgoro’s knowledge. According to Seaketso, the organisation in the province has decided to disengage in all ANC North West processes.
He alleges that the ANC leadership in the province is self-serving and unable to handle political issues in the province. He says they cannot tolerate one-sided decisions being made by the structure which thereafter negatively affects the entire province and leaves its residents at the end of the stick. Seaketso cites the swearing in of ANC’s Mmoloki Cwaile as the new member of the legislature as an indication of a party that disregards its alliances and its voters.
