FS MEC commends #DrBlok learners for their progress─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:17 Wed, 30 Jan 2019
The Free State Department of Education MEC, Tate Makgoe, says he is pleased with the performance of learners from the Dr Blok Secondary School in Heidedal and how their matric pass rate has been improving over the years.
He says learners from the school continue to outperform themselves despite the many socio-economic challenges they are faced with on a daily basis. Makgoe today (Wednesday) led a handover ceremony of donations to the school after its learners lost everything when their hostel caught fire on the night of January 11. Makgoe has expressed his gratitude to all the donors and said this serves as an indication of a caring province that prioritises education. Makgoe has committed to ensure that refurbishments at the school run smoothly and get completed within the next six months.
He also confirmed that the school's ablution facilities urgently needed to be improved and he is committed to ensure that the infrastructure development at the school, and many others in the province, takes place.
