Free State

Mpati says residents can this week expect partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions coupled with cool to warm temperatures. He warns that heavy rainfall is predicted for Monday and Tuesday especially in the western parts of the Free State.

This, as weather models are indicating rainfall of more than 20mm within 24 hours on Tuesday. Mpati also indicates that there is a possibility of wind gusts over the western parts of the province on Tuesday afternoon which are expected to last until the evening. He explains that these wind gusts will be accompanied by wind shearing which will be contributing to heavy rainfall.

Scattered to isolated thundershowers are expected over the rest of the province on Tuesday.

Northern Cape

Tropical moisture moving in from Namibia and Botswana will be leading to heavy downpours over the central and eastern parts of the province. Mpati further adds that scattered showers and thundershowers with isolated showers are expected over the southwest parts of the Northern Cape. He explains that this means that most of the province will be experiencing a 30% to 60% chance of rainfall.

The weather models are also indicating more than 20mm of rainfall within 24 hours over the central parts of the province on Monday and Tuesday.

Mpati says rainfall will clear from the western parts on Wednesday until Saturday where a 30% chance of rainfall exists for the weekend. He adds that the north-eastern parts of the province are expected to experience rain from Wednesday.

Cloudy conditions are expected over the province for the rest of the week with cool to warm temperatures on Monday and Tuesday.

However, residents can expect partly cloudy and warm weather conditions from Wednesday.

North West

Mpati says they are not expecting severe weather for the North West. This, as partly cloudy and warm conditions are expected over the province this week. However, isolated showers and thundershowers are expected to fall over most parts of the province except in the northern parts on Monday. The weather service is expecting scattered to isolated showers and thundershowers in the province for the rest of the week.
