Free State Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the 37-year-old was arrested on the R711 in this area last Tuesday after receiving intelligence-driven information about a suspicious truck traveling from Lesotho to South Africa.

He says the police in the Free State, together with local farming communities, continue their fight against stock theft in the province which remains a priority.  He says agricultural communities play a vital role in combating crime in rural areas, that is why police and organised agriculture meets regularly to discuss rural safety issues. Therefore, Baile Motswenyane, new provincial police commissioner, has already met with organised agricultural structures last week (Free State Agriculture), to address issues such as stock theft.

Motswenyane takes over from former Free State police commissioner, Moeketsi Sempe, which has moved up the ranks and will serve in the post of divisional commissioner for visible policing as of 2020.
