Thaba Nchu police foil planned robbery | News Article

Thaba Nchu - Thaba Nchu police have foiled an alleged planned robbery after they arrested five people near Albert Moroka Hospital in the early hours of this morning.

Free State police spokesperson, Peter Kareli, says the police received information that the suspects were planning to rob a local chain store.

The suspects were found with two pistols, of which one is a police firearm, and a bag full of explosives frequently used in ATM bombings.

Kareli says police will further try to determine whether or not the suspects were involved in recent ATM bombings in Thaba Nchu and Bloemfontein.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 33, and one is a Lesotho national. They will appear in the Thaba Nchu Magistrate's Court soon.
