Bloemfontein - The late speaker of the Free State Legislature, Sisi Mabe will have an official provincial funeral.
According to deputy speaker of the provincial legislature Sizwe Mbalo, President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday declared that Mabe will have an official provincial burial.
Mabe died at the age of 47 on Sunday at Mediclinic Vereeniging after a long illness. She had three children.
Mbalo says a special legislature sitting will be held at the Raadsal in Bloemfontein, in memory of Mabe.
He says a provincial memorial service will take place at 10:00 on Wednesday at the Boet Troskie Hall, Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein.
Mbalo says there will be a district municipal memorial service on Friday in Sasolburg at the Harry Gwala Multi-purpose Centre at 09:00.
He explains that Mabe’s body will be escorted by the provincial police on Friday afternoon from Vereeniging Mortuary to her house in Sasolburg where a family ritual will be performed.
She will then be taken to her parents’ house in Heilbron, where her mother still lives.
Mabe’s funeral will start at 08:00 at the Heilbron Multi-purpose Centre on Saturday.
