Bethlehem - A task team has been appointed to assist residents in the Dihlabeng Municipality in Bethlehem who have been affected by severe wind storms.
Spokesperson Tsheliso Maitse says the municipality was hit by wind storms at Bohlokong location last week.
Maitse says close to 500 roofs of houses were blown away and the wind storms caused extensive damage to people’s property. He says the municipality cannot quantify the damage as investigations are still continuing.
Maitse says the municipality provided the affected victims with sails to cover their damaged houses and have also provided some residents with corrugated iron.
Maitse says residents are still staying at their homes as they didn’t want to leave their properties or be taken to a centre.
A task team consists of Dihlabeng municipal officials, representatives from Department of Cooperative Governance, Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality, Department of Social Development and other stakeholders.
