Bloemfontein - The speaker of the Free State legislature is stepping down after 20 years as a member.
Ouma Tsopo made the announcement during the last house sitting before the general elections at the Raadsal in Bloemfontein yesterday.
She says it was an emotional day as she has been a member of the democratic provincial legislature since its formation in 1994.
Tsopo expressed hope for those who will continue leading the legislature.
Tsopo’s name was on the ANC's national list which was submitted to the IEC for the upcoming elections.
