Brits - North West Premier Thandi Modise has called on communities to allow the provincial government time to intervene and remedy the situation at the embattled Madibeng Municipality.
Modise placed the municipality under administration yesterday, labelling it dysfunctional.
Last month, violent protests over water in Mothuthlung resulted in the deaths of four people. Municipal officials have been accused of colluding with water tanker companies to sabotage the area’s water supply.
Modise's spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele also confirmed that Madibeng municipal manager Monde Juta has been suspended for corruption.
A report finalised last February recommended that Juta be suspended. The ANC in the province recalled the mayor, speaker and chief whip for failing to implement the report.

This is the second time since 2009 that the municipality has been placed under administration.
