NWU Mafikeng campus remains closed─── DANE DANE 08:25 Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Mahikeng - The Mafikeng campus of the North West University (NWU) remains closed today amid continuing students protests.
The Mafikeng campus has been closed since last week Wednesday as a result of the nationwide #Feesmustfall campaign which at times turned violent.
Some 41 students were arrested on campus and later released on a warning. Spokesperson, Koos Degenaar says currently the protest outside the Mafikeng campus is relatively calm.
Meanwhile messages are being spread on social media that protestors will be bussed in to the Potchefstroom campus of the NWU today.
The university said on its Facebook page that students should however remain calm and follow social media for regular updates. Gates may be closed and students who are outside may not be able to come in.
Students were advised not to leave the campus.
