Officials expect Bloemfontein's water supply to be restored by tomorrow.
According to Mangaung Ward 25 councillor Rossouw Botes, repairs to the main pipeline that burst earlier this week was concluded.
He warned however that water will take several hours to reach the reservoirs.
Parts of the city could have water by late tonight but residents should be prepared to only have water tomorrow.
Some parts of the city have been without water for almost a week while other parts have been without access since Friday night.
Authorities also call on those Bloemfontein residents that do have access to water to use it sparingly.
