Ananda Naude’s Prize Winning Lamb Pot
“This was our winning recipe in a "Potjiekos" competition.”
Ingredients
6 lamb shanks
1 packet of bacon
1 large onion (cut up)
4 garlic gloves (cut up)
1 glass of Dry Red Wine
2 tomatoes (cut up)
2 tbs sugar
potatoes
carrots
green beans
mielies, salt & pepper
Method
1) Braai the lamb shanks over an open fire (barbeque) till brown.
2) Then fry the onions, garlic, bacon and mushrooms in oil in a pot and add the meat to it.
3) Now add the red wine, tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper and heat untill boiling point.
4) You can now add the potatoes, carrots, green beans and mielies and cook for 2 hours on an open fire in a pot.
5) Add a packet of Royco "Beef Stew with Rosemary" sauce to make the sauce nice and thick.
6) Serve on rice or samp and E-N-J-O-Y !!
