Anderson tipped as favourite to reach US Open final─── MORGAN PIEK 16:56 Wed, 06 Sep 2017
The big serving, Kevin Anderson, is going to enjoy the win after becoming the first South African since 2003 to reach a Grand Slam semi-final.
Anderson beat Querrey 7-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 to become the first South African since Wayne Ferreira to advance to the last four.
Anderson says he is going to enjoy reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final, before focusing on his next match.
“I’ve put in a lot of work, so it feels good reaching a milestone that I haven’t before.
“At the same time I feel like I came into this taking it each match at a time.
“I think I’ll let myself enjoy this for the next day or so, take a couple of days off now and I’ll definitely refocus for my next match.”
Before Anderson’s quarter-final, the bookies tipped him as the overwhelming underdog, however, their tune has changed somewhat.
Anderson is now installed as the favourite to beat Pablo Carreno Busta, with odds of 1/3 while the 12th seeded Spaniard is the underdog at 41/20.
Carreno Busta in his turn beat Argentina's Diego Schwartzman in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 win.
