Enterprises Committee calls for Eskom to appear before Parliament─── 07:42 Wed, 11 Jan 2023

Parliament's Public Enterprises Committee is demanding answers on the electricity crisis.
It wants Eskom to appear before Parliament, to give an update on the current situation and, more importantly, the outlook for the year ahead.
South Africa has been experiencing power cuts for over a decade, with last year being the worst.
Committee Chair Khaya Magaxa says he was not optimistic that 2023 would be any different.
According to him, the committee was not always pleased with André de Ruyter's performance.
He says the problems at the power utility can be reduced if capable people are employed.
"We don’t think that the situation is going to get better. As a result, we would like to meet with them so that they can tell us exactly what their plan is and what the current issues are."
