The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will unveil a book on Saturday titled "Approaches to building a smart community".
The book - a collaboration of various universities across South Africa - aims to advocate for building an interconnected community.
Such a community would leverage smart technologies to benefit citizens in underdeveloped communities, as well as stimulate economic growth and environmental sustainability.
According to the Council's Jackie Phahla-mohlaka, the launch marks the beginning of the implementation of the concepts, technologies, and processes proposed in the book.
