UNISA Vaal regional office joins protest over dilapidated infrastructure─── 16:37 Thu, 13 Jun 2019
UNISA's Vaal regional office has joined the protest over dilapidated infrastructure, and unhealthy working conditions.
Branch Secretary for all campuses, Ntsako Baloyi, says the infrastructures at more than eight UNISA campuses and centers nationwide do not meet the minimum occupational health standards, and as a result, pose a risk to staff and students.
Baloyi told OFM News that in a meeting held between UNISA, NEHAWU and the SRC today, an attempt to find an amicable solution was not possible. This, as the University reportedly prioritized the OR Tambo main campus, which is mainly used by staff not students.
He adds the Florida campus also has gas leakages, and this must be prioritized.
