Wage settlement between #SARS, PSA, and Nehawu 'imminent'─── 07:46 Mon, 01 Apr 2019
The South African Revenue Service (SARS), the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu), and the Public Servants' Association (PSA) have made substantial progress in narrowing their areas of dispute.
There is also a possibility of reaching an agreement and settling the dispute, they said in a joint statement.
"Pursuant to the industrial action currently underway [the PSA and Nehawu went on strike on Thursday], the parties continued the engagements from Friday evening, 29 March 2019; as well as from the afternoon of Sunday 31 March into the late evening," the statement said.
The parties acknowledged and appreciated the progress made in the two days in their endeavour to resolve the dispute and end the strike.
"The parties have made substantial progress in narrowing their areas of dispute and there is a possibility of reaching an agreement and settling the dispute. In this regard organised labour will take the proposals to their members on Monday morning, and will revert to the employer by [9am on] Monday, 1 April 2019," the statement said.
