The Bulls moved to within one point of second place on the United Rugby Championship (URC) table on Friday night, with a 29-21 win over the Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium in Scotland – importantly ensuring they qualified for the playoffs.

The victory against the defending champions also helped the Bulls bury the ghosts of last year’s final at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

In a pivotal URC clash, the Bulls delivered a commanding performance to defeat Franco Smith’s charges, with the win boosting their chances of securing a home semi-final.

The Bulls’ relentless defence and physicality were key to their success. Johan Goosen’s accurate kicking, along with tries from Johann Grobbelaar and David Kriel, proved instrumental in the visitors’ victory. Despite a late surge from Glasgow, with tries by South African-born Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall, the Bulls managed to hold firm and maintain their lead.

Glasgow struggled with injuries and disjointed play, which hampered their performance. They squandered several scoring opportunities and found it tough to break through the Bulls’ disciplined defence.

The Bulls now return to South Africa full of confidence after their four-week tour of France, Ireland and Scotland, which delivered impressive wins over the URC’s last two champion sides – Munster in Limerick and the Warriors in Glasgow.
