The Toyota Cheetahs winger, Enver Brandt, is facing another long road to recovery after sustaining a serious knee injury during Monday’s Currie Cup warm-up game against the Sharks in Bloemfontein.
The former Griquas speedster has enjoyed limited game-time of late due to injuries and yesterday he suffered another major blow.
Brandt tore his ACL while tackling a player during the hard-fought 36-14 win over the Sharks and he is facing 10 months on the side-lines.
A disappointed Brandt told OFM Sport that he will take the blow on the chin.
“I’m very disappointed with the injury coming at this time just before the Currie Cup starts,” said Brandt.
“I was really looking forward to start of the Currie Cup and showcase my talent once against, but you can’t control things like this as it tends to have for a reason.
“I'll take this injury on the chin and looking forward to my recovery.”
The flyhalf Siya Masuku also sustained an injury after hyperextending his elbow early in the first half of the game against the Griquas. He is how expected to be fine and ready for the Currie Cup.
On 10 March the Cheetahs will face the Griquas in Kimberley in the opening match of the Currie Cup.
