North West farmers get "show and tell" opportunity─── SABRINA DEAN 15:59 Mon, 29 Jun 2015
Bloemfontein - In the run-up to its first ever provincial agriculture show in September, North West is on a mission to highlight the activities of its farmers by hosting a series of farmers’ shows across the province.
Provincial agriculture spokesperson Thandiwe Moripe-Thabethe the first two-day Farmers’ Show is being hosted in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District this week.
She compares it to a “show-and-tell”, saying it will provide a showcase opportunity for about 350 farmers from Ventersdorp, Potchefstroom and other parts of Tlokwe Municipality.
She says farmers will represent various categories, including young, female, male, disabled and old-aged farmers.
The exhibitions will be judged on Tuesday, with the top exhibitors most likely being invited to participate in the provincial agriculture show to be hosted at the Kgora Training Institute in Mahikeng sometime in September.
The Farmers’ Show is on at the Extension 2 Stadium, Ventersdorp, until Tuesday.
