Public encouraged to support #ForTheLoveofBooks campaign─── MOLEBOGENG MALEBO 10:11 Tue, 20 Nov 2018
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss
The Rotary Club of Bloemfontein-Raadzaal has started an initiative to gather as many books as possible for schools in and around the City of Bloemfontein. The beneficiary for the first book drive is Katamelo Intermediate School in Botshabelo. The Bloemfontein Rotary Club wishes to collect books which will add to the school’s mobile library collection.
The school’s librarian, Michael Kuili, told OFM News the learners of Katamelo already benefit greatly from the books found in the library. “We have maths books in our library so our learners often come to the library to practice their skills, therefore, our learners are more inclined to do mental maths. They can also write and read English and Sesotho independently,” said Kuili.
This book drive is still in its initial stage, but the Rotary Club of Bloemfontein-Raadzaal hopes to gather enough books to donate to other schools. The public can drop off their book donations at the Central Media Group offices in Christo Groenewald Street or at the Pick n Pay Showgrounds in Curie Avenue.
