Bloemhof - Residents and owners of holiday resorts on the banks of the Vaal River at Bloemhof and Christiana in North West have started to evacuate dwellings.
Owner of the Dundee Fishing Resort, Sumari van Niekerk, says they are preparing for the worst at the resort which is only a few kilometers downstream from the Bloemhof Dam.
Water Affairs acting Director General Trevor Balzer told OFM News this morning that the water level at the Bloemhof Dam stands at 84% with an outflow of 450 cubic meters per second.

The outflow could increase later this afternoon.
A resident living on the banks of the Vaal River in Christiana, Joe Stephens, also told OFM News that he has started to evacuate his caravan and remove permanent structures as water levels are rising.
