Tornado hits US state of Arkansas─── 08:28 Sat, 01 Apr 2023
Authorities reported "widespread damage" and 24 hospitalisations after a "catastrophic" tornado ripped through Arkansas in the southern US on Friday.
Witness Lara Farrar says the devastation in West Little Rock was "shocking," with buildings' roofs torn off.
Four fatalities were noted.
Assisting emergency services in their efforts to "assist anyone injured," governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders noted that she had activated the National Guard.
Sanders stated, "Central Arkansas has sustained significant damage."
Parts of the neighbouring states of Tennessee, Illinois, and Iowa received tornado warnings from the National Weather Service.
The tornado that swept through some of Little Rock, Arkansas, was described as having "catastrophic" power.
Meanwhile, one person has been killed and dozens more injured after a storm caused a theatre roof to collapse in Illinois at a packed heavy metal gig.
