“Consistency in games, consistency in the way we play, the way we train and always just trying to get better. As cliche as it sounds, that's what it's really all about.”

The Netherlands are off the mark at the ICC T20 World Cup following a six-wicket win against Nepal in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday.

Nepal had a bat first and were bowled out for 106-runs in 19.2 overs, with their captain, Rohit Paudel top-scoring with 35. Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek each took three wickets for the Dutch.

Max O'Dowd scored 54 not out to guide the Netherlands to victory in 18.4 overs.

O’Dowd said as they now prepare to face South Africa they are targeting consistency and while there are many little thing to work on in the long-run.

I think it probably comes down to consistency,” said the New Zealand-born O’Dowd.

“Consistency in games, consistency in the way we play, the way we train and always just trying to get better. As cliche as it sounds, that's what it's really all about.

“Obviously, with Ryan Cook at the helm, having a guy like that leading that. Our aim is to become a good - from where we are now, a good team, to become a great team. And there's many little things that we need to do, whether that's fitness, whether that's extra fielding, extra batting, whatever it looks like.

“It's just putting in the work and we've been doing that for the last year and a half I think leading into India. So yeah, it's just continuing that.”

On Saturday the Netherlands and the Proteas will battle it out in New York, and this game at the Nassau County Stadium is set to get underway at 4:30am.

Meanwhile the match between England and Scotland in Barbados on Tuesday was declared a no result because of rain, while on Wednesday at 16:30, India will face Ireland in New York.
