“The promotion excitement is there, but we did speak about it as a team to not take our foot off the gas pedal and to carry on fighting hard.”

The Northern Cape Heat and the ITEC Knights will battle it out in Kimberley on Wednesday afternoon in the final round of CSA T20 Challenge games before the semi-finals.

Wednesday's match will determine which of these two teams will play in a home semi-final.

For the Heat to host a semi-final, they need to beat the Knights with a bonus point. The Knights themselves will target a bonus point win to give themselves the best opportunity to host a home semi-final and possible final.

The left-arm seamer who scored 42 not out and took 1/14 in four overs against the Mpumalanga Rhinos told OFM Sport that it’s important to carry on fighting for silverware.

“The promotion excitement is there, but we did speak about it as a team to not take our foot off the gas pedal and to carry on fighting hard,” said the former Junior Protea.

“We want to get that home semi and eventually a home final in Bloemfontein so that we can play in front of our supporters and give them some good entertainment.”

In Wednesday's other game, the Limpopo Impalas will face the Garden Route Badgers in Polokwane. A win or bonus point win can see the Impalas also secure a home semi-final, and if they end on the same points as the Knights, they will finish at the top of the log as they beat the Knights as well as the Heat earlier in the competition.

Wednesday’s game between the Heat and Knights at the Diamond Oval is scheduled to start at 13:00.
